25 of the fastest cars on sale in Britain in all classes, most of the Autocar team and me.
One of my first driving jobs, I was initially looking after Steve Sutcliffe ensuring that each of the 25 cars was tested & timed up the runway. This is involved moving and securely strapping the Vbox telemetry from one car to the next, and having it ready, warmed up and waiting for Steve to perform a quick transition.
Then I drove various cars for the feature shots.
I am in the 997 GT3 below, inches from the R8. That could be one expensive accident if just one of those cars is not piloted by skilled hand.
Inset above, I managed to fit the Lambo's roof in record time, with the help of some friends. This was after getting caught out in a sudden and torrential down pour with Mike Duff. We hid at my suggestion under a 747's belly. You can see Mike calling back to base, below, to say the £200,000 pound car was not a glamorous gold fish bowl.
