BMW M3V8 Mule Spotted

The two Marks while out in Austria on a Recce (June 15-17th '07) for the upcoming Euro Blast came across a de-badged but clearly pre-production brand new M3V8. This car promises to be simply awesome when it hits the showrooms in September, packing a shortened M5 V10 engine, BMW lopped off two cylinders making it a V8 and over 400bhp. It also stated that this engine is not only shorter but lighter than that outgoing straight 6 that has propelled M3's for over a decade. the V8 has some reputation to uphold. The other benefits of this unit is that it can be mounted further back in the chassis helping weight distribution and thus driving dynamics.

You can clearly see from the photo's it has a carbon roof, flared arches, quad tail pipes, shiny rear silencer and a V8 bonnet bulge.

The M3 did not appear as aggressive as hoped or as seen in other pictures, especially the front end, and the lack of a rear diffuser, but it still had a lot of presence and dare I say it, elegance. The sort of elegance that stated, 'yes I look pretty, sophisticated and posh, but boy can I kick dirt in the face of some supercars, so watch out'!! Unequivocally an M3.
